GfK Consumer Confidence April 2025

• The GfK Consumer Confidence Index decreased by four points to -23 in April with all five measures falling.

General economic situation

• Consumer perceptions of the general economic situation over the past 12 months went down by five points to -47, six points worse than April 2024.
• Expectations for the general economic situation over the next 12 months declined by eight points to -47, sixteen points lower than this time last year.

Personal finances

• The personal finances index for the past 12 months decreased by one point to -10, a one-point improvement from April 2024.
• Expectations for personal finances over the next 12 months is down four points at -3, five points lower than this time last year.

Major purchases

• The Major Purchase Index is down two points at -19 but is six points higher than the same month last year.

Savings Index (not included in the overall measure)

• The Savings Index recovered five points to +30, four points better than this time last year.
